Biography
Prof. Dr. Alexander Adams — CEO and Founder of AXP Systems Engineering GmbH — provides technology expertise and consulting services to cable and telecom operators as well as technology vendors and associations worldwide. Prof. Dr. Adams has 25 years of experience in broadband cable and the international telecommunications industry, specializing in dissemination of specialized technical knowledge, the education and training of broadband engineering personnel, as well as engineering consulting services in PON- and HFC-systems, DOCSIS 1.0 through 4.0, OFDM/A, 1G through 6G, WiFi, PNM, PMA, Remote-PHY & FMA, artificial intelligence, coherent optics and network security.
Prof. Dr. Adams has been an associate professor for communications systems engineering at Jade Hochschule of Applied Sciences in Wilhelmshaven, Germany for the past six years, offering special classes on modern broadband and communications technology. This approach educates becoming engineers directly for communications technology used in the field and is unique in Germany. Prof. Dr. Adams has brought more than 50 engineers into the communications industry.
Prof. Dr. Adams holds a profound knowledge of communications systems engineering, the technical functionality of modern communications technology, as well as its application in broadband networks worldwide. His teaching is well structured and keeps a close relation to modern field applications. His students appreciate his experience, his open way of communication, his entertaining style of teaching, and his interest in their learning success and progress.
Prof. Dr. Adams has been working with SCTE, a subsidiary of CableLabs since 2012 as a trainer, content creator, and subject matter expert for cable-bound and wireless communications systems and has been deployed globally for SCTE in these functions. He is an instructor and frequent speaker on modern and future communications technologies for the organization with industry partners and at industry events, conventions, and technical sessions.
Further, Prof. Dr. Adams is SCTE’s representative in Europe, organizing cooperation with local industry associations such as dibkom in Germany and PIKE in Poland, as well as with European university partners. Prof. Dr. Adams represents SCTE’s engineering in the CableLabs® “Proactive Network Maintenance Research Group” and in this function contributed to the definition of the DOCSIS 3.1 and DOCSIS 4.0 specifications for transmission of data across the coaxial infrastructure.
His contributions to research and education in the communications industry, underscored by his frequent publications in industry literature, make Prof. Dr. Adams an excellent link between academic research and practical engineering deployment in the field.
Formerly, Prof. Dr. Adams was managing director of Adams Network Engineering GmbH, a Germany-based engineering company active in network design as well as broadband network service and integration. He further was Chief Science Officer of Netzkontor GmbH, a holding of 16 companies and 1500 employees in broadband network service and integration, where his task was the organization and operation of a corporate training academy for field technicians and engineers.
A highly respected speaker and industry thought leader, Prof. Dr. Adams is a frequent presenter at domestic and international industry trade shows, conferences and regional seminars. He has published numerous articles and podcasts in worldwide communications journals and magazines. Prof. Dr. Adams earned a doctorate degree in engineering from the Technical University of Darmstadt in 2007. He received his master- and bachelor’s degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Hawai’i in 2001 and 1997, respectively.
