Virtual CMTS – Head in the Cloud
In the world of broadband cable networks, there are constant innovations aimed at improving performance and efficiency. One particularly exciting development is virtual CMTS (vCMTS), which is enabled by remote PHY and MACPHY technologies. These technologies move key CMTS functions from the traditional headends to the optical nodes of the network. This leads to a significant increase in bandwidth and more efficient use of the network infrastructure. The vCMTS is not only a more cost-efficient solution, but also improves the flexibility and scalability of the networks. The advantages and functions of this technology are explained in detail below. Read the full PDF to find out how virtual CMTS will shape the future of broadband communications.
